Win £25 to spend at The Decades Wardrobe

3 August 2011 14 Comments

To celebrate our partnership with new sponsor, online vintage shop The Decades Warehouse, we’re offering you the chance to win a £25 gift voucher to spend on the site.

All you have to do is tell us about your favourite piece on www.thedecadeswardrobe.com - why you love it and what you’d wear it with – in the comments box below or via Twitter at @vintagebrighton. We’ll then pick an entrant at random and announce the winner on 12 August.

The Decades Wardrobe

The Decades Wardrobe, made up of founder Craig O’Donnell, model and buyer LoLo Martin and blogger Aimee Stanton, opened its virtual doors on 2 July 2011 and sells handpicked vintage clothing and accessories spanning the 1950s to 1990s.

Our personal favourite picks currently include a disco-fabulous Harrods’ sequin waistcoatladylike burgundy dress with velvet collar from the USA and delicate 1960s gold beaded handbag.

“I know that finding good quality, stylish and affordable vintage clothing can be something of a challenge”, says owner Craig. “We hand-pick our pieces to ensure that they’re wearable and they fit with current trends.”

Craig plans on extending the range of ladies apparel on the site as well as introducing men’s clothing at the end of the year.

This competition has now closed. Congratulations to winner Katie Atkinson!

I love the Fruit Pastel dress. It reminds me of the Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell fabric designs for the Omega Workshops in the 1910s. The pattern captures the spirit of Bloomsbury whilst the bold colours and shiny gold buttons give it a modern edge. In the Autumn, I would team it with some pink tights and a mustard cardigan.

I really like the 80′s Gothic Style Dress! It would look lovely in the summer with no tights, tan sandals and satchel/bucket bag:

my favourite piece is the calluna cardigan which I actually bought right away( after closely watching it for three days trying to decide, even though I knew I was going to but it anyway). I love how it looks great with jeans, skirts, mini skirts , practically everything. it is so versatile I even wear it in all types of weather just because it a treasure !!!!!!!
the colours scream out making everything else thT your wearing pop , becoming even more vivacious that explains why u had to buy it

Oh it’s all very wearable & lovely but I think I’d go for the WHAM/2 80s starry black & white jumper. I’d wear it out on a late summer or autumn evening stroll into the North Laine with black skinny jeans, gold lame bag & maybe a thin belt.

I LOVE the gold Wallis two piece, the pleated gold maxi skirt blew my tiny mind when I first saw it, so I could easily choose that as my favourite, worn with the super powers t-shirt and some beat up converse? however I’m going to go with the more sophisticated option the Little House plaid 7o’s dress, so Sally Draper a la MadMen, I’d wear it with my brown heeled brogues and small brown leather satchel and red lipstick, the ideal work outfit for a cat like me, oh and maybe my red cardigan.
    Love
    The Big Mac

Driving brides in my beautiful vintage beetle, Belle, I love to look smart and in keeping with the era in which the car was built. The Thatcher jacket in The Decades Wardrobe would be perfect, it oozes style and would great with some capri pants and a neckacheif.
