Hairdresser Darren Sayers has hand-picked reclaimed furniture and taken inspiration from Midcentury Modern style to inject an eclectic vintage aesthetic into his newly-opened Seven Dials salon.
“Most of the salons I’ve worked at in the past have felt really clinical with rows of matching units and tiled floors,” Darren says. “I wanted to do exactly the opposite and create a space that is homely, warm and inviting and listening to the response from clients I think we’ve achieved it.
“I’ve always loved vintage pine furniture and i found most of my stuff from local flea markets, mostly in Lewes, and a small shop in the Dials called Treasure and Trash which is just around the corner from the salon.”

Darren has been looking after my hair for 5 years. The new salon is amazing. Darren is the best stylist and clourist I have ever been to and the new salon is top notch friendly, welcoming and always thoroughly enjoyable experience. I cant recommend Room 5 enough. Darren has been my stylist for many years now, i have very thick, long hair and he always insists that i have an extended appointment so that he is able to give me the same, excellent quality of service, that he consistently strives (and succeeds) to provide to his clients.
Darren and Jodie are an excellent team, providing a professional, client centred experience in a fabulously chic environment. I wouldn’t dream of going to anyone else, which has to be a true testimony to just how good Room 5 is.
