Having been tipped as a top trend for autumn/winter 12/13 by fashion houses including Burberry Prorsum, Vivienne Westwood and Ralph Lauren at last February’s Fashion Weeks, tweed is central to this season’s English Heritage look.

Natty tweed blazers – plentiful in vintage boutiques, charity shops and even some street markets – can be worn with everything from dresses to jeans and Lana Del Ray’s campaign for H&M also helped to put the tweed dress on the style radar. Pair with chunky knits and jodphurs and you’re done. Right? Well, not neccessarily…

Whilst the look originated in the English countryside, tweed can also work for formal and evening wear, as proves Daniella Christina’s Hepburn Dress (£74.99), inspired by the glamorous starlet herself.

“The dress is classic with a modern twist”, Brighton-based designer Daniella explains. “Made from pickle tweed and with drape detailing on the front and a scoop back, it flatters the female shape and is perfect for work or play, being both smart and sexy.”
