Beyond Retro student design competition
Are you a vintage loving student? Fancy yourself as an up-and-coming fashion designer? Then grab your sketchbook and get scribbling to enter Beyond Retro’s exciting competition, writes Shelley Louise Baker.
Beyond Retro’s student design competition offers the opportunity to showcase your handiwork at the famous vintage chain’s busiest branches – the holy vintage grail that is Brick Lane and of course, where else but Brighton?
Not only will the winner bag £100 of Beyond Retro vouchers, but their work will be exhibited from January to April 2013 in four light boxes outside the Brick Lane store and one inside the Brighton branch.
“This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your designs to over 100,000 store visitors, including the industry’s most influential stylists and designers who regularly shop at Beyond Retro”, enthuses the brand’s head of press Charlotte Sutcliffe Smith.
So, how do you enter?
Beyond Retro is something of a fashion time capsule, showcasing a vast selection of 20th century style, and the chain wants to know what you think should be added this.
“From the swinging Sixties to Nineties’ acid house, clothes represent a wealth of history that helped shape modern Britain”, Charlotte says. “We’re asking how you think the past century should be remembered in terms of British fashion.”
To enter, create a design that embodies the essence of 20th century fashion – this can take any form, for example photography, illustration or graphic design, as long as it fits into an A0 light box (46.8 x 33.1 inches).
The winner’s designs will be presented to Beyond Retro’s wealth of contacts in the design industry and fashion press as well as promoted through the brand’s online channels and London stores.
To enter, email your work to competition@beyondretro.com by January 12 2013. Full competition T&Cs can be found on the Beyond Retro blog.
